Estes Park's Jazz Festival is held in conjunction with Art Walk:  a self-guided tour of over 20 galleries, studios, and art exhibits throughout Estes Park.  Maps are available at the Jazz Festival and at any participating gallery.

THE 2012 ANNUAL ESTES PARK JAZZ FESTIVAL 
CELEBRATING OUR 22nd YEAR!
 

The 22nd annual Estes Park Jazz Festival takes place on Saturday, May 19th, and on Sunday, May 20th, 2012, from Noon to 5pm at Performance Park.  Performance Park is located at 417 West Elkhorn Avenue, at the West end of downtown Estes Park, Colorado.


The Estes Park Jazz Festival has grown from its humble beginnings over two decades ago, into a two-day event, featuring our finest national and regional Jazz artists. The festival features stellar line-ups of performers presenting the music from it’s New Orleans roots to it’s thriving and diverse present, and venturing into it’s exciting future.  Over the last twenty-two years the festival has featured internationally known Jazz stars  Benny Golson, Roberta Gambarini, Marlena Shaw, Don Braden, Angela Hagenbach, The Brubeck Brothers, Margo Reed, Les McCann, and Houston Person, among others; along with top Colorado area Jazz Artists, many of whom have national reputations, including The Ken Walker Sextet, Queen City Jazz Band, Images, Ellyn Rucker, Air Force Academy Falconaires, Eric Gunnison, Dotsero, Pat Bianchi, Hazel Miller, Nelson Rangell, Hugh Ragin, Laura Newman, The OTone Brass Band, Groove Society, The Heavenly Echoes Gospel Choir, Conjunto Colores, Convergence, and many more as part of this two day celebration of Jazz.

Thanks to the support of the Town of Estes Park and private sponsorship, the festival has become a prime destination for music lovers around the region and across the country; and the perfect kick off to the festival season in Colorado. The Estes Park Jazz Festival is produced by the Special Events Department of the Town of Estes Park and was founded by and is directed by Jazz artist, Max Wagner.  The Festival is presented free to the public courtesy of the Town of Estes Park and our sponsors.
 
The Estes Park Jazz Festival features eight Jazz groups presented over two days. This year’s Festival will have TWO HEADLINING ACTS, one each day on Saturday and on Sunday. Saturday’s headliner will be legendary Jazz drummer Louis Hayes, with his New York Quartet performing at 2:30 on Saturday, May 19th. Sunday’s headliner, Kevin Mahogany, one of the premier Jazz vocalists in the world, takes the stage on Sunday, May 20th at 2:40pm.

The Jazz Continues At Night
There will be a performance of The Max Wagner Trio on Saturday night, May 19th  
from 6:30-9:30pm in downtown Estes Park at Mama Rose’s Italian Restaurant.
The Max Wagner Trio -Straight Ahead Jazz and Jazz Vocals:  Max Wagner on tenor saxophone & Jazz vocals, performs with Tony Gulizia at the piano, and Ken Walker on bass.  The Trio will be joined by Special Festival guests:  Joey Gulizia (of Mannheim Steamroller) and L.A. tenor saxophonist Roger Neumann.  Mama Rose’s is an official sponsor of The Estes Park Jazz Festival (reservations suggested - 970-586-3330).  Mama’s is located at:  338 E. Elkhorn Ave.
